Tom Butler sent me these thoughts -- I promise I'm going to get back to posting myself soon!
Long ago there were not the sophisticated tools for cutting and measuring that builders use today. Therefore it was important to use a cornerstone to ensure that a structure was soundly built. Everything was built in relationship to the cornerstone and therefore any error in the cutting or placement of the cornerstone would get magnified as the building progressed. The cornerstone needed to be as perfect as humanly possible.
What is the cornerstone that you are building your business around? Jackie and Dr. Vicky often say that Mannatech organizations mirror their leaders. Are you working to ensure that your leaders will see in you the actions that will lead to a sound organization? When we look at large network marketing organizations the one thing we can know for sure is that those at the top are not perfect. How do we help our organization to be sound despite our imperfections?
My desire is that I have an organization greater than myself. Therefore I need something greater than me to be the cornerstone of my organization. I find that cornerstone in the book of Ephesians. Chapter 2 verses 19-20 read in the Message translation:
19 That's plain enough, isn't it? You're no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You're no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He's using us all - irrespective of how we got here - in what he is building. 20 He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he's using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone 21 that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day - a holy temple built by God, 22 all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.
So the question for me becomes how to ensure that I am using the Cornerstone in everything I build. That is a question that I will be answering all my life. My primary goal is to be continuously improving my use of the Cornerstone as the first element of the foundation of my organization.
